Adobe has stopped further development of the mobile version of its Flash Player in its intra quarter update. The company was developing Flash plugins for the Android and BlackBerry PlayBook platforms but now plans to redirect all development towards its Adobe Air platform for HTML 5 based applications.
Apart from this, Adobe claimed that it would make greater investments towards the development of HTML 5 based technologies.
Flash has been conspicuous by its absence from Apple devices such as the iPhone and iPad after Steve Jobs wrote it off as unstable technology and huge battery hog.
Since then, many iPad competitors have proudly touted their Flash capabilities - but it looks like those days are over, at least for now.
